1/4 cup butter
1/4 cup peanut oil
1/2 cup onion -- minced
4 cloves garlic
1 cup chicken stock
1 1/2 cups catsup
1 tablespoon Tabasco sauce
1/4 cup molasses
1/4 cup red wine vinegar
3/4 cup water
1 tablespoon liquid smoke
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
2 tablespoons brown sugar
2 pieces bay leaves broken in half
1 teaspoon paprika
2 teaspoons dry mustard
1/8 teaspoon thyme
1 teaspoon cayenne
1 teaspoon crushed red pepper
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground pepper

Preparation / Directions:

In a large, heavy saucepan, melt the butter with the oil over medium heat. Add the onion, and sauté until slightly caramelized, about 5 min. Add the garlic and sauté another 2 min. Add all the remaining ingredients, raise the heat, and cook at a full boil for 10 min., stirring frequently. Reduce heat, partially cover, and simmer for 30 min., stirring occasionally. Sauce may be refrigerated and reheated when needed.
