Crostini (Garlic Flavored Toast)

6 slices white bread slices -- day-old
4 tablespoons olive oil -- or butter
2 cloves garlic -- split lenghtwise

Preparation / Directions:

Cut each slice of bread in 4 squares or triangles. It is not necessary to remove the crusts. Heat the oil in a small skillet or saucepan and saute the garlic over medium-low heat. When the garlic is deep gold in color but not browned, discard it. Brush the flavored oil on both sides of the bread and set the slices on a baking sheet. Toast lightly on both sides in a 375 F oven. Serve hot.
