Best veggie pasta sauce

Bring this to your potlucks. People will think it has hamburger in it, and love it!
 

Ingredients:


1 stick oleo

1 medium Onion, cut up

2 stalks celery, cut up

1 medium bell pepper cut up (or 1 cup frozen tricolored peppers)

---(THE LARGER YOU CUT YOUR VEGGIES, THE MORE CHUNKY YOUR SAUCE WILL BE)

1 clove garlic, diced very small

1 Teaspoon generous sprinkle of Italian Seasoning

1 Teaspoon anise seed*

1/4 cup sugar

1 teaspoon salt, pepper to taste

2 links Morningstar breakfast (sausage) patties

1 can tomato paste

1 can tomato juice
 

Preparation / Directions:


Melt oleo in large saucepan, add veggies and spices. Place patties on top, cover, heat over low-med. until patties are thawed enough to smash into hamburger consistency. Stir well. Add tomato paste, stir in, add tomato juice, stir well. Bring to a good simmer, turn heat to low simmer, cook 3 hours, stirring occasionally. Serve over spaghetti or any cooked pasta (Or mix with 1 lb. cooked rigatoni and put into crockpot and bring to potluck.)
