Boiled Maine Lobster

Ingredients:


1 quart water

2 tablespoons salt per 1 quart water

2 medium live maine lobsters {1 to 1 1/2 lb. each}

1/2 Cup melted butter or real mayonnaise
 

Preparation / Directions:


1. Fill large pot with sufficient water to cover lobsters; add salt and bring to rapid boil. 2. Grasp lobsters firmly just behind the claws and plunge headfirst into boiling water; allow water to boil again after putting in each lobster. 3. Lower heat, cover pot, and simmer 15 minutes for 1-pound lobsters, 20 minutes for 1 1/2 to 2-pound lobsters, 40 minutes for very large lobsters. 4. Remove from pot, split lobsters, and serve hot with melted butter, or chill and serve cold with mayonnaise.
