Blueberry Oat Scones

Ingredients:


1 1/2 Cup flour

3/4 Cup quick-cooking oats

1/3 Cup sugar

2 teaspoon baking powder

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

1/3 Cup butter

1 large egg

1/2 Cup orange juice

1/2 teaspoon orange peel -- grated

1/2 Cup frozen blueberries -- unthawed

---Topping---

1 tablespoons butter -- melted

2 tablespoons sugar
 

Preparation / Directions:


1. Heat oven 375 degrees. Grease cookie sheet. 2. Combine flour, oats, sugar, baking powder, salt and nutmeg. Mix well. 3. Cut in butter until crumbly. 4. In small bowl, beat egg slightly. Beat in orange juice and orange peel. 5. Add egg mixture to flour mixture. Stir just until blended. 6. Stir in blueberries. 7. Knead into small ball. 8. Place on cookie sheet, with floured hands, press into 8 inch circle. 9. Cut into 10 wedges. Do not separate. 10. Brush top of dough with melted butter. Sprinkle with sugar. 11. Bake 375 degrees for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown. Serve warm.
