Purple Plum Kuchen

Ingredients:


1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1/4 teaspoon baking powder

3/4 cup sugar

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup butter or margarine

1 large egg yolk

1 large egg -- lightly beaten

3 cups purple prune plums -- sliced

1 1/2 teaspoons orange peel -- grated

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1/2 cup heavy cream
 

Preparation / Directions:


1. Combine flour, baking powder, 1/2 cup sugar and a dash salt; cut in butter until crumbly and stir in egg. 2. Spread dough on bottom and sides of 8-inch square baking pan; arrange plum slices over dough. 3. Combine remaining sugar, orange peel and cinnamon; sprinkle over plum slices. 4. Bake in preheated 375 F. oven 20 minutes. 5. Combine heavy cream and egg yolk; pour over plums, return to oven and bake 30 minutes longer. Serve hot.
