Noodles Merilda

Ingredients:


1/2 pound noodles

2 pounds coarsely chopped mushrooms -- cooked in butter

3 large truffles -- coarsely chopped

1 large egg yolk

1 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon pepper

1/4 pound grated swiss cheese

3 tablespoons butter
 

Preparation / Directions:


Cook noodles in boiling salted water. Drain. In mixing bowl, combine noodles, mushrooms, truffles, egg yolk, salt, and pepper. Mix well. In ovenproof casserole, place one-third of noodles in a layer. Sprinkle with one-third of grated cheese. Repeat operation two more times. Dot with butter. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes. Raise heat to 400 degrees and continue baking for 10 minutes. Serve hot. Comments: The recipe is thus named because "Merilda," the family cook of Chateau Mouton-Rothschild, created it. Suggested Wine: A chilled white wine, dry or sweet.
