Spicy Lamb In Pita Breads

Ingredients:


1 pound ground lamb

1 small onion (1/2 cup) -- chopped

1 clove garlic

1 tablespoons vegetable oil

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon ground cumin

1/4 teaspoon pepper

4 pieces pita bread rounds -- (6 inch diameter)

1 bunch shredded lettuce

1 medium tomato -- (1 cup), chopped

1/2 cup plain lowfat yogurt

1 tablespoons chopped fresh mint

1 teaspoon sugar

1/4 small cucumber, seeded and chopped
 

Preparation / Directions:


Cook lamb, onion and garlic in oil over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until lamb is brown; drain. Stir in salt, cumin and pepper. Cut each pita bread in half to form pockets. Spoon 1/4 lamb mixture into each pocket. Top with lettuce and tomato. Mix remaining ingredients; serve with sandwiches
