Shrimp Kavabs

Ingredients:


2 cups shelled -- cleaned cocktail shrimps

2 medium onions -- finely chopped

4 medium green hot peppers

6 cloves garlic -- ( grind to a paste )

1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds

2 tablespoons chopped celentro

1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder

4 teaspoons lemon juice

1 large egg

2 slices bread -- soaked in water

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 cup dry bread crumbs

1 cup vegetable oil for frying
 

Preparation / Directions:


Blend shrimps and spices into blender or grinder. Remove bread from water and squeeze dry. Add to shrimp all ingredients except bread crumbs and oil. Mix thoroughly. Divide mixture into 12 or 16 portions. Shape each portion into a ball. In a deep frying pan pour oil to a depth of (1 1/2 inches). Heat to medium hot. Roll each "ball" in bread crumbs and fry on medium heat till nicely browned. Serve as an individual dish with french fries or as desired. Serves 6 to 8. Recipes by Jeroo Mehta
