Foolproof Ice Cream (For Crank-Type Or Freezer Method)

Ingredients:


4 tablespoons unflavored gelatin

1/2 cup boiling water

1/2 cup sugar

4 large eggs

1 tablespoon vanilla

1 1/2 cups half and half

1/8 teaspoon salt

2 cups heavy cream
 

Preparation / Directions:


Dissolve gelatin in boiling water and set aside. Scald half and half. When tiny bubbles form around the edge of pan and milk reaches about 180 degrees., stir in sugar and salt. Cool. Beat eggs and add to half and half mixture. Cook over low heat stirring for 10 minutes. Remove and cool. Add heavy cream and gelatin and vanilla, place in crank-type freezer.
