The Very Best Vanilla Ice Cream

Ingredients:


6 large eggs

2 cans evaporated milk

2 1/4 cups sugar

2 tablespoons vanilla

1 quart sweet milk

1/4 teaspoon nutmeg -- (optional)

1 quart half and half

1 Dash salt

1 can condensed milk
 

Preparation / Directions:


Beat eggs well and beat in sugar. Mix well. Add milk and half and half. Stir in salt. Put over low flame. Stir while cooking. As soon as custard coats spoon, remove from heat. Add condensed milk, evaporated milk, vanilla and nutmeg. Put in 5-quart freezer and freeze according to instructions with freezer. Let ripen at least 1 hour.
