Preparation / Directions:1. Mix together sugar, water and Madeira in medium saucepan. Place over low heat; stir until sugar dissolves.
2. Add cloves, cinnamon stick, orange peel and lemon peel; bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer 30 minutes, or until mixture is syrupy and reduced to 1 cup.
3. Remove from heat and strain. Chill.
4. Halve strawberries and add to sauce; cover and chill several hours.
5. Spoon into dessert dishes and serve sprinkled with macaroon crumbs.
