Masoor Shorba (Soup)

Ingredients:

3/4 cup masoor dal -- (washed)
3 medium Onions -- sliced
4 cloves garlic -- crushed
1/2 teaspoon chile powder
3 medium tomatoes
2 teaspoons oil
1 teaspoon salt -- to taste
2 tablespoons lemon juice
---FOR GARNISH---
1 tablespoon boiled rice
 

Preparation / Directions:

Preparation time: 10 minutes Cooking time: 15 minutes 1. Heat the oil and fry the onions for 1 minute. Add the garlic and chile powder and fry again for 1/2 minute. 2. Add 6 cups of water, the tomatoes, masoor dal and salt and cook in a pressure cooker until the first whistle. 3. When cooked, blend in a mixer. 4. Boil for 5 minutes. Serve hot with lemon juice and garnished with boiled rice.
