Ingredients:

1 cup toovar dhal*
2 medium tomatoes -- chopped
10 medium green chiles -- (to 12), chopped
1 teaspoon asafetida
1 teaspoon salt -- to taste
---for seasoning---
2 tablespoons oil
1 teaspoon mustard seeds
1 sprig curry leaves
2 medium red chiles -- broken
 

Preparation / Directions:

* wash and soak dhal in water for 1/2 to 1 hour Cook the dhal in 3 to 4 cups water until soft. Mix it well and add chopped tomatoes, green chiles, asafetida, salt to taste and boil until cooked. Season with oil, mustard seeds, curry leaves and red chiles.
