Brattens Clam Chowder

Ingredients:


13 ounces clams, chopped

1 cup onion, finely chopped

1 cup celery, diced

2 Cup potatoes diced

1/2 teaspoon sugar

1/2 teaspoon salt

3/4 Cup margarine

3/4 Cup flour

1 quart half and half

1 dash pepper

2 tablespoons fried bacon (optional)
 

Preparation / Directions:


Drain clam juice, pour over vegetables and simmer 20 minutes until tender. Melt margarine; add flour, sugar and salt. Add half and half very slowly, stirring constantly. Stir until very thick, and then combine with vegetable mixture. Add clams and bacon, heat through.
