Ham And Macaroni Casserole 1

Ingredients:


1 pound country ham slices -- or --

1 piece regular smoked ham (1 lb)

1 large onion -- diced

1 pound elbow macaroni

8 ounces extra sharp cheddar cheese -- shredded

1 cup sour cream

1 can cream of chicken soup -- (10 3/4 oz)

1/4 cup butter or margarine -- melted

1 cup plain dry bread crumbs
 

Preparation / Directions:


Heat oven to 400 Deg. F. On stove top, bring 4 quarts of water and ham to boiling in a pot. Once water begins to boil, remove the ham to a plate. Add the onion and macaroni to the pot. Return the water to boiling; cook for 8 minutes, stirring the macaroni occasionally. Coarsely chop the ham, discarding any fat and bones. Drain the macaroni and onion; return macaroni and onion to the pot. Add the ham, cheddar cheese, sour cream, and cream of chicken soup. Pour into 13 X 9 X 2 inch baking dish. Pour melted butter/margarine over top. Sprinkle with bread crumbs. Bake for 30 minutes or till heated through and top is golden brown. Let stand 5 minutes before serving.
