Pepper Burgers With Thyme Sauce

Ingredients:


1 large egg -- beaten

2 Tablespoons Milk

3/4 Cup Soft Bread Crumbs

3/4 Teaspoon Salt

1/4 Teaspoon Ground Nutmeg

1 Pound Ground Beef or turkey

1 Medium Onion -- chopped

1 Cup Beef Broth

1 Tablespoon Flour

1 1/2 Teaspoons Worcestershire Sauce

1/2 Teaspoon Dried Thyme -- crushed

1 Medium Green Pepper
 

Preparation / Directions:


In bowl combine egg and milk; stir in bread crumbs, salt and nutmeg. Add ground beef; mix well. Shape into 4 patties. In a 10 inch skillet, cook patties over medium heat for 3 ro 4 minutes. Turn and cook almost to desired doneness, 3 to 4 minutes more. Remove from skillet. Cook onion in skillet drippings till tender but not brown. Drain off excess fat. Blend beef broth and flour; stir into skillet along with Worcestershire sauce and thyme. Cook and stir till thickened and bubbly. Return burgers to skillet. Cut green pepper in strips; add to skillet. Simmer, covered, till burgers are heated through, 2 to 3 minutes. Serve with hot cooked rice, if desired.
