Baked Blueberry Sandwiches

Ingredients:

  12            slices  white bread -- crusts trimmed
  1                can  sweetened condensed milk
     1/3           cup  sugar
  1                can  flaked coconut
  3               cups  fresh or frozen dry-pack blueberries
     1/2           cup  water
 
Preparation:

1. Brush bread slices on both sides with condensed milk; dip slices into coconut. 2. Put 6 slices on a heavily greased cookie sheet. 3. Cover slices with 2 cups blueberries; top with remaining slices. 4. Bake in preheated 350 F. oven 15 to 20 minutes, or until lightly browned. 5. Combine remaining blueberries, water and sugar in saucepan; cook over moderate heat until berries are cooked and sauce thickens. 6. Serve warm, with blueberry sauce spooned over each serving.
