Savory Turkey Buffet

Ingredients:

1/4       cup           butter or margarine
1/4       cup           all-purpose flour
1/4       teaspoon      poultry seasoning
1/8       teaspoon      onion granules
1/8       teaspoon      cayenne pepper
1 1/2     teaspoons     chicken soup base
1 1/2     cups          hot water
2         cups          cubed cooked turkey
1         can           mushrooms -- 4oz, drained, chopped
5         cups          soft bread crumbs
2                       eggs -- beaten
8         slices        bacon
*savory sauce*
1/2       cup           cream soup base
1/4       cup           all-purpose flour
1         teaspoon      chicken soup base
1         cup           low fat milk
1/2       cup           water
 

Preparation:

Melt butter; stir in flour, poultry seasoning, onion granules, and cayenne pepper. Cook until bubbly. Dissolve chicken soup base in hot water; stir into flour mixture. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly until thickened. Stir in turkey and mushrooms. Remove from heat; cool to room temperature and then chill. Shape into eight 3 x 1 1/2 inch rolls. Roll in bread crumbs, dip in egg and roll in bread crumbs again. Wrap each roll with a slice of bacon; fasten with a toothpick. Bake at 375 degrees F. for 30 minutes or until brown. Spoon Savory Sauce over rolls and serve piping hot. Makes 8 rolls. SAVORY SAUCE: Combine cream soup base, flour and chicken soup base. Add milk and water and cook, stirring constantly, over medium heat until mixture begins to boil and thicken.
