Ingredients:

   1      cup           chana dal *
   2      tablespoons   grated coconut
   2      tablespoons   chopped coriander leaves
   3                    green chiles -- slit
   1      pinches       hing (asafetida)
     1/2  teaspoon      rai (mustard seed)
     3/4  teaspoon      jeera (cumin)
   2      tablespoons   oil
                        salt -- to taste
 

Preparation:

* boiled so that the dal is separate Heat oil, add rai and when it splutters add hing, jeera and slit green chiles. Fry for 2 minutes, then add chana dal, salt and peas. Stir. Cook for 5 minutes. While serving, garnish with grated coconut and chopped coriander leaves.
