German Spaghetti Casserole

Ingredients:

   1 1/2  pounds        ground beef
   4      slices        bacon -- cut lengthwise
   1      large         onion -- chopped
                        salt and pepper to taste
  16      ounces        tomato sauce
   1      28 oz can     tomatoes -- drained, chpd
                        juice reserved
     1/3  cup           sugar
     1/2  pound         elbow spaghetti -- cooked
                        (macaroni?)
 

Preparation:

Brown and drain hamburger. Lightly cook bacon; retain fat and cook onions until transparent. Salt and pepper hamburger to taste. Add bacon, onion, tomatoes and juice, tomato sauce, and sugar to hamburger. Simmer 30 minutes. Add cooked spaghetti. Put into large, greased casserole and bake 1 hour at 350F.
