Spicy Prawns

Ingredients:

   1      pound         shrimps cleaned and deveined
   1      small         onion- chopped fine
   5 1/2  teaspoons     chile powder
   1                    marble sized  lump tamarind*
   1      small         pinch of hing -- (asafetida)
     1/4  teaspoon      mustard seeds
     1/4  cup           oil
 

Preparation:

* soak in water for 30 minutes. Soak the tamarind in a little water and squeeze out all the pulp. Heat the oil. Add the mustard seeds and wait till it crackles. Add hing and the chopped onions. Fry till golden brown. Lower the flame and after a minute add the chile powder. Fry this for a minute or two till it gives out an aroma. Immediately add the tamarind and let boil for some time. Now add shrimps and wait till done. (Approx. 5 minutes). Serve with rice. Source: by Nina Prabhu
