  1                cup  cold grits -- left-over
  1                cup  flour -- sifted
  3 1/2      teaspoons  baking powder
  2          teaspoons  georgia cane syrup
  2                     eggs
  1 1/2           cups  milk
  5        tablespoons  butter or margarine
 

Preparation:

Beat the eggs, add milk, syrup, grits and flour (to which baking powder has been added) beating until smooth. Add shortening last of all and mix well.
