Pan Fried Onion Steaks

Ingredients:

  2                     sweet red onion
  2               cups  milk
  1                     bay leaf
     1/2           cup  flour
  2        tablespoons  oil
  2        tablespoons  butter
     1/4      teaspoon  salt
     1/4      teaspoon  pepper
 

Preparation:

Cut three 1/2-inch thick slices from the widest part of each onion reserve remainder for another use carefully place slices into a large baking pan, in a single layer pour milk over the onion slices cover and chill for 3-4 hours, carefully turning once remove from milk, allow excess to drip off coat well in flour heat butter and oil in a skillet, over a moderate flame add onions and pan-fry until browned well on both sides season with salt and pepper serve hot
