Tomatillo Sauce for Chicken Enchiladas

Ingredients:

     1/3           cup  salad oil
  2             medium  onions -- chopped
  1                can  chopped green chiles -- 4 ounce can
  1                cup  chicken broth
  28            ounces  tomatillos
  3        tablespoons  lime juice
  2          teaspoons  dried oregano leaves
  2          teaspoons  sugar
  1           teaspoon  cumin
                        salt -- to taste
 

Preparation:

Heat oil in a 3 to 4 quart pan over medium-high heat. Add onions and cook stirring often, until soft, about 10 minutes. Stir in green chilies, chicken broth, tomatillos, lime juice, oregano, sugar and cumin. Bring to a boil reduce heat and simmer uncovered, stirring occasionally, 25 minutes. Whirl sauce in a blender. until smooth. Season with salt.
