Preparation:
Preheat oven to 400 F. Make Crumb Topping. TOPPING: Sift together flour, dark brown sugar, nutmeg and cinnamon. Cut in Crisco until crumbs form.PIE: mix olasses, brown sugar, eggs and water (with baking soda added) thoroughly. It's not necessary to use an electric mixer. Divide syrup mixture into two pie shells. Add half the crumb mixture to each. Or make layers, alternating syrup with crumb topping. Bake 10 minutes. Reduce temperature to 350 F and bake 50 minutes more. Cool before serving |
