Quick Pear Chutney

Ingredients:

   1      13 oz can     sliced pears
   1                    lemon -- sliced thin
     1/2  cup           raisins
     1/4  cup           candied ginge
     1/2  cup           brown sugar
     1/2  cup           vinegar
     1/4  teaspoon      nutmeg
     1/4  teaspoon      salt
     1/2  teaspoon      mustard seed
   1      teaspoon      cornstarch
 

Preparation:

Drain pears, reserving syrup for later use. Dice pears. Put next 8 ingredients in saucepan, bring to boil and simmer 25 minutes. Blend cornstarch with 1 tablespoon pear syrup, add to first mixture and cook, stirring, until clear. Add pears and simmer 5 minutes. Cool and serve with curried meats or seafood. Makes about 3 cups.
