Roast Chicken With Herbs

Ingredients:

  3             pounds  frying chicken -- (3 to 4)
  3             Cloves  garlic -- halved
  2                     bay leaves
  3        tablespoons  butter -- melted
     1/2      teaspoon  salt and pepper
     1/4      teaspoon  ground sage
     1/4      teaspoon  dry basil
     1/4      teaspoon  thyme
     1/4      teaspoon  oregano
     1/4      teaspoon  marjoram
 

Preparation:

Rub skin of chicken with 1 cut clove of garlic, then put all garlic and bay leaves in cavity. In bowl, stir together butter, salt, pepper, sage, thyme, oregano and marjoram. Spoon 1 tablespoon mixture into cavity. Brush skin with butter mixture. Bake at 375 degrees for 1 to 1 1/2 hours. Baste. Makes 4 servings.
