Pumpkin Bread

Ingredients:

  2               Cups  flour
  2          Teaspoons  baking powder
     1/2      Teaspoon  baking soda
  1           Teaspoon  salt
  1           Teaspoon  cinnamon
     1/2      Teaspoon  ground cloves
     1/2      Teaspoon  freshly grated nutmeg
     1/4      Teaspoon  ginger
     1/2           Cup  butter -- softened
  1                Cup  brown sugar -- tightly packed
  2                     eggs
  1                Cup  cooked pumpkin (Canned may be used)
     1/2           Cup  milk
  2        Tablespoons  flour
     1/2           Cup  chopped walnuts
     1/2           Cup  raisins
 

Preparation:

Combine all dry ingredients (except sugar, nuts, and raisins) and mix well. Cream butter and sugar together. Add eggs and pumpkin and beat well. Add dry ingredients and milk alternately to creamed-butter mixture, beating well after each addition. Lightly flour both nuts and raisins and fold into batter. Pour batter into 9 x 5 x 3-inch loaf pan. Bake at 350° for 50-60 minutes. Leave bread in pan for about 10 minutes and then cool on a wire rack.
