Crock Pot Steak Soup

Ingredients:

   3      cups          water
   2      small         onions -- chopped
   3      stalks        celery -- chopped
   2                    carrots -- sliced
   1      16 oz can     tomatoes
   1      teaspoon      pepper
   1      tablespoon    monosodium glutamate
   1      10 oz pkg     frozen mixed vegetables
   1      pound         coarsely ground beef or stew meat -- browned
   2      tablespoons   beef base or granules -- (2 to 4)
     1/2  cup           butter or margarine
     1/2  cup           all-purpose flour
 

Preparation:

Put all ingredients except butter and flour in crock pot. Cover and cook on low 8 to 10 hours. One hour before serving, turn to high. Make a roux of 1 stick melted butter and 1/2 cup flour. Stir until smooth. Pour into crock pot and stir until thickened. Cook soup on high until thickened.
