Pear Pudding Pie

Ingredients:

   1      can           {16 oz} bartlett pears
   1      package       {5 oz} vanilla pudding and pie filling
     3/4  cup           milk
   1      tablespoon    butter
   1      teaspoon      pure vanilla extract
     1/4  teaspoon      ground nutmeg
     1/2  cup           heavy cream -- whipped
   1                    baked 9-inch pastry shell
 

Preparation:

1. Drain pears and dice, reserving 1/2 cup pear syrup. 2. Combine pudding mix and milk; add pears and reserved syrup. 3. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until mixture comes to a boil. 4. Remove from heat; blend in butter, vanilla and nutmeg. 5. Cool; fold in whipped cream. 6. Pour mixture into pie shell; chill.
