Ingredients:

     3/4  cup           sugar
   1      teaspoon      cinnamon
     1/4  teaspoon      nutmeg
   1      dash          salt
     3/4  cup           water
   1      tablespoon    fresh lemon juice
   5      cups          tart cooking apples -- pared,cored & thinly sliced
   2      tablespoons   cornstarch
   1      tablespoon    butter
   1                    prepared 9-inch graham cracker
                        pie crust
                        ice cream -- (optional topping)
                        whipped cream -- (optional topping)
                        non-dairy whipped topping -- (optional)
                        ---glaze topping--- -- (optional topping)
   1      cup           dairy cream
   2      tablespoons   sugar
 

Preparation:

1. Combine sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt in medium saucepan; stir in 1/2 cup water, lemon juice and apples. Stir gently over medium heat until mixture comes to a boil. 2 Cover and simmer 15 to 20 minutes, until apples are almost tender, stirring occasionally. 3. Add cornstarch mixed with 1/4 cup water, stirring gently until thickened and clear; stir in butter. 4. Pour apple filling into pie crust; bake in preheated 350 F. oven 30 minutes, or until bubbling hot and apples are tender. 5. Top with Glaze Topping, if desired, and return to oven for 6 minutes. Or top pie with ice cream, whipped cream or non-dairy whipped topping.
