Ingredients:

  4               Cups  Potatoes -- Sliced Thin
     3/4           Cup  Onions -- Sliced Thin
  2        Tablespoons  Butter
  3               Cups  Water
  1 1/2      Teaspoons  Salt
  2               Cups  Milk
  2        Tablespoons  Flour
     1/2      Teaspoon  White Pepper
 

Preparation:

Cook potatoes and onions in rapidly boiling salted water until tender, about 15 minutes Make paste of flour and 1/2 cup milk; add remaining 1 1/2 cups milk and stir until well blended. Add flour mixture to potatoes and cook until slightly thickened, about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally; add pepper and butter. Puree soup in batches.
