Grilled Rib Eye Steak With Sw Barbecue Sauce

Ingredients:

  8              large  ripe tomatoes -- peeled, seeded,
                        -- chopped
  1                     onion -- chopped
     1/2           cup  molasses
  2        tablespoons  balsamic vinegar
  2        tablespoons  cider vinegar
  2        tablespoons  orange juice
     1/2           cup  red wine
  2          teaspoons  worcestershire sauce
  1           teaspoon  ground allspice -- cloves, and
                        black pepper
     1/4      teaspoon  dijon mustard
     1/4      teaspoon  cumin
     1/2      teaspoon  ground coriander
     1/4      teaspoon  paprika
     1/4      teaspoon  ground ginger
  2             cloves  garlic -- minced
  1                     dried ancho chile -- stem and seeds
                        -- removed

  6                rib  eye steaks -- (8oz. each)
 

Preparation:

Combine all the sauce ingredients in a large pot. Bring to a boil, reduce the heat, and simmer until all the ingredients are blended and the sauce begins to thicken, about 20 minutes. Remove from the heat and puree (in batches if necessary) in a blender or food processor. Brush the steaks very, very lightly with the sauce and grill or broil them in the desired degree of doneness. Warm the remaining sauce and serve on the side. We serve this dish with onion rings. Notes: Never can a bottled barbecue sauce taste as good as a freshly made one. My usual complaint with barbecue sauces is that they are too sweet. This one hits the perfect balance between sweet and savory. It's also good on other meats and poultr
