Jarlsberg, Onion and Apple Canapes

Ingredients:

  1               Tbs.  margarine or butter
  1             medium  onion -- cut into 4ths and sliced 
  4             ounces  thinly sliced jarlsberg or swiss cheese 
 16             slices  pumpernickle cocktail bread
  1         Tablespoon  dijon-mayonnaise blend or dijon mustard 
  1             Medium  apple - thinly sliced unpeeled
  1         Tablespoon  chopped fresh chives -- (1 to 2)
 

Preparation:

Heat oven to 400. Melt margarine in 10inch skillet overmedium heat. Cook onion in margarine 4 to 6 min. stirring occassionaly, until tender. Cut cheese to fit bread. Spread each bread with sliced dijon mayonaisse blend, or dijon mustard. Top each with onion, apple and cheese. Sprinkle with chives. Placed in ungreased pan. Bake 5 min or until cheese is melted. Serve warm. 16 appetizers
