Fire And Ice Melon Bowl

Ingredients:

  2               cups  sugar
  2               cups  water
  1                     hot banana pepper -- seeded & minced
  1                     serrano or jalapeƱo pepper -- seeded & minced
     1/2                red bell pepper -- seeded & minced
  1                cup  fresh lime juice
  8                     fresh mint leaves -- minced
     1/2           cup  the following per person:
                        cantaloupe
                        honeydew
                        watermelon balls -- other shapes
                        garnish
                        red bell pepper
                        mint leaves
 

Preparation:

Combine sugar and water in a small saucepan. Bring to a boil, and boil until sugar is dissolved to make a sugar syrup. Remove from heat; let cool. Add chilies, red bell pepper, lime juice and minced mint. Mix well. Pour over chilled melon. Garnish with mint leaves and peppers. Makes 6 to 8 servings.
