1 tablespoon butter -- or butter

1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk
1/2 cup nuts -- chopped
1 cup molasses
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup water
Preparation:
Boil molasses, sugar, salt, milk, water, and butter to hard ball stage (265 ~ 270 F). Add flavoring. Spread nuts over the bottom of a well-buttered pan. Pour taffy over nuts. Cool. Pull until stiff and creamy. Cut in 1-inch pieces.
