Huckleberry Slump

Ingredients:

  6               cups  huckleberries -- (blueberries may be
                        substituted)
  1                cup  sugar
  1           teaspoon  cinnamon
     1/2           cup  water
  1 1/2           cups  flour
     1/4      teaspoon  salt
  1 1/2      teaspoons  baking powder
     1/2           cup  milk
                        heavy cream -- sweetened, mixed
                        with a dash of fresh nutmeg and lightly
                        whipped
 

Preparation:

Combine berries, sugar, cinnamon, and water in a saucepan. Mix together flour, salt, and baking powder. Add milk and mix lightly to make a soft dough. Bring huckleberry mixture to a boil. Drop dough by spoonfuls onto huckleberry mixture. Cover. Turn down heat and simmer for 30 minutes. Serve warm with sweetened heavy whipped cream.
