Ingredients:

   1      cup           Sugar
     2/3  cup           Margarine or butter -- softene
   1                    Egg
     1/2  cup           Cocoa
     1/3  cup           Buttermilk -- milk or water
   1      teaspoon      Vanilla
   1 3/4  cups          All-purpose flour * -- Or whole wheat flour
     1/2  teaspoon      Baking soda
     1/2  teaspoon      Salt
   1      cup           Chopped nuts -- if desired
                        Chocolate frosting
   2                    Ounces unsweetened chocolate
   2      tablespoons   Margarine or butter
   3      tablespoons   Water
   2      cups          Powdered sugar -- about
 

Preparation:

* if using self-rising flour omit Baking soda and salt. Heat oven to 400 degrees. Mix, sugar, margarine, egg, cocoa, buttermilk and vanilla. Stir in flour, baking soda, salt and nuts. Drop dough by rounded teaspoonfuls about 2 inches apart into ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until almost no indentation remains when touched; cool. Frost with Chocolate Frosting. CHOCOLATE FROSTINGHeat chocolate and margarine over low heat until melted. Remove from heat. Stir in water and powdered sugar until smooth.
