CHOCOLATE CHIP BARS

Ingredients:

     3/4  cup           Granulated sugar
     3/4  cup           Packed brown sugar
   1      cup           Margarine or butter -- softene
   1                    Egg
   2 1/4  cups          All-purpose flour*
   1      teaspoon      Baking soda
     1/2  teaspoon      Salt
   1      cup           Coarsely chopped nuts
   1      package       (12 ounces) semisweet -- Chocolate chips
 

Preparation:

*if using self-rising flour omit Baking soda and salt. Heat oven to 375 degrees. Mix sugars, margarine and egg. Stir in flour, baking soda and salt (dough will be stiff). Stir in nuts and chocolate chips. Press dough in ungreased jelly roll pan, 15-1/2 X 10-1/2 X 1 inch. Bake 15 to 20 minutes or until brown; cool. Cut into 2-1/2 X 1-1/2-inch bars.
