Red Onion And Walnut Salad

Ingredients:

   1      head          boston lettuce -- torn
                        (or any green leafy lettuce will do)
   1                    red onion -- thinly sliced and
                        separated into rings
   3      tablespoons   salad oil
   1      tablespoon    white wine vinegar
     1/8  teaspoon      dry mustard
                        salt and freshly ground pepper -- to taste
   1      pinch         dried basil
     1/2  cup           mandarin oranges -- drained
     1/2  cup           walnuts -- chopped
 

Preparation:

In salad bowl, combine lettuce and red onion rings. Toss and set aside. In measuring cup, combine oil, vinegar, mustard, salt and pepper and basil for dressing. Drizzle dressing over salad. Add oranges and walnuts. Toss again. Chill until ready to serve. Approximately 5 minutes.
