Ingredients:

  3               cups  flour
     3/4           cup  vegetable shortening
  3                     egg
     3/4           cup  sugar
  2        tablespoons  lemon zest
  1           teaspoon  anise seed
     1/4           cup  powdered sugar
 

Preparation:

Cut shortening into flour, to resemble a fine meal combine eggs and sugar in a mixer bowl-beat until light stir in lemon zest and anise seed-mix well fold into flour mixture cover and chill for 1-2 hours roll into 1-inch balls place a ball into a pitzale iron press flat and cook until golden remove from iron to cool on a wire rack dust with powdered sugar repeat with remaining dough serve at room temperature
