Ingredients:

   1      cup           soft shortening
   1 1/2  cups          sugar
   2                    eggs
   2 3/4  cups          sifted flour
   2      teaspoons     cream of tartar
   1      teaspoon      soda
     1/2  teaspoon      salt
   2      tablespoons   sugar
   2      teaspoons     cinnamon

Preparation:

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Mix shortening, sugar and eggs. Sift together flour, cream of tartar, soda and salt. Stir into creamed mixture. Dough will be sticky. Roll into balls the size of small walnuts. Roll in mixture of sugar and cinnamon. Bake 8 to 10 minutes until lightly browned but still soft. Place about 2" apart on ungreased cookie sheet.
