Cheap, Easy Stuffing

Ingredients:

2 tablespoons margarine
1 medium onion -- chopped
2 teaspoons sage
2 teaspoons garlic powder
8 cups dried bread cubes or cubed toast
4 cups chicken stock or prepared bouillon
 

Preparation:

Melt margarine in a 1 quart sauce pan and saute the onion. Add sage and garlic. To the onions and seasoning, add bread cubes. Toss lightly. Then add poultry stock or bouillon. The bread will seem to melt but should hold its form. Use to stuff a chicken or turkey, or bake in a greased casserole dish covered for 35-40 minutes at 350. VARIATION: Add 1/2 to 1 cup chopped celery, 1 to 1 1/2 cups sliced mushrooms, 1 to 2 cups chopped cooked poultry, or, if you're feeling rich or live on the coast, a pint of oysters.
