Mocha Fondue

Ingredients:

8 ounces semisweet chocolate
1/2 cup hot espresso or strong coffee
3 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons butter
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup apple orange juice -- unsweetened
1/2 cup raisins
1 cup dried figs -- chopped
1 cup pumpkin -- cooked or canned
2 tablespoons sugar
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 cup walnuts -- chopped
1 teaspoon orange -- rind grated or (2 ts dry)
 

Preparation:

1. Using a chefs kniefe coarsely chop chocolate. Stir coffee with sugar in a small saucepan set over low heat until the sugar dissolves. 2. Add the chopped chocolate and the butter. Continue cooking, stirring frequently until mixture is smooth, about 3 minutes. 3. Stir in vanilla. Keep warm while serving in a small fondue pot or on a food warming tray set on low. Notes: Serve with a selection of fresh sliced bananas, strawberries, kiwi slices, grapes, tangerine segments and pound cake cubes. For an extra jolt of flavour, place 2 Tbsp brandy, rum or irish cream liquer in a measuring cup and then pour in enough hot coffee to make 1/2 cup.
