Preparation:
Prepare crust. In a medium bowl, combine 2 cups graham cracker crumbs,
sugar,
and salt, if desired, mixing well. Add butter, blending well with a pastry
blender. Pack crumb mixture evenly over the bottom and up the sides of a
9-inch pie plate, forming a standing ridge. Bake in a preheated moderate
oven
(350 degrees F) for 7 to 9 minutes. Cool thoroughly.
Prepare filling. In the top of a double boiler, melt one package of
chocolate
morsels with 1 tablespoon oil over very hot (not boiling) water, blending
well. Pour over bottom of crust, spreading evenly. Allow chocolate mixture
to
stand at room temperature until firm. Spread Marshmallow Creme evenly over
chocolate layer in crust. Top with 1 to 2 cups graham cracker crumbs,
sprinkling evenly; press crumbs lightly with the hands to compact. Melt
remaining package of milk chocolate morsels and 1 tablespoon oil in the top
of a double boiler over very hot water; spread melted chocolate evenly over
crumb layer. Allow chocolate later to stand at room temperature until firm.
Evenly arrange marshmallow halves around inside edge of pie filling and a
second circle mid-center of pie and ending with one marshmallow half in the
center of the filling. Just before serving, place pie in the center of the
oven on a rack; broil for 2 to 3 minutes, or just until marshmallows begin
to
brown and melt. With a sharp knife, cut into wedges and serve. |
