Preparation:
Cream butter. Gradually add 1/2 cup of the brown sugar; beat until light. Mix in vanilla, egg yolk, flour and oats. Spread in greased 8 inch square pan. Beat egg white until stiff; gradually beat in remaing brown sugar and continue beating until stiff peaks form. Mix in chocolate pieces and half of the walnuts. Spread over oat mixture and sprinkle with remiaining walnuts. Bake at 350 degrees F. for 35 to 400 minutes or until meringue is light brown. Cool in pan. Cut into 24 (1 x 2 1/2 inch) strips. |
