DEER STEW

Ingredients:

1 pound bacon
2 pounds deer meat
2 medium turnips
1 can veg-all
16 ounces tomato sauce
1 medium diced onion
1 teaspoon salt and pepper to taste
 

Preparation:

Fry to bacon first and then use dripings to brown floured deer meat...one can use beef... Put browned meat in a slow cooker and pour in the liquid from the veg-all. Add the 16- ounce can tomato sause, the diced onion and cut up turnips..add water to obtain desired consistency....cook 3-4 hours on High or all day on LOW or until meat is very tender. Add veg-all vegetables and bacon and cook an additional 15 minutes. To me, it would seem better to cook on HIGH for a few hours and then turn to LOW for several hours...the meat gets more tender that way...and I would like some chunked potatoes too....
