Mambazha Morkootaan (Fruits In Curd And Coconut Gravy)

Ingredients:

6 medium mangoes
1 1/2 teaspoons turmeric
1 1/2 tablespoons jaggery
4 sprigs curry leaves -- cleaned
3 cups curd -- churned
1 teaspoon salt -- to taste
---TO GRIND---
1 whole coconut -- grated
16 medium green chiles
1 teaspoon cumin seeds
---FOR SEASONING---
3 tablespoons coconut oil
1 teaspoon black mustard seeds
3 medium red chiles -- broken
 

Preparation:

Wash, de-seed and cut mangoes into large pieces. Cook along with the turmeric, salt, jaggery, curry leaves and a little water until done. Grind coconut, green chiles, and cumin seeds into a paste, adding a little water. Add to the cooked mangoes and churned curd. Heat oil and add mustard seeds and red chiles. When brown, pour over curd and mango mixture. Bring to a boil and serve. You can substitute 4 bananas for the mangoes.
