Best pasta sauce

Bring to potlucks - everybody will think it is a meat dish!
 

Ingredients:

1 stick oleo
1 medium onion, cut up
2 stalks celery, cut up
1 medium bell pepper, cut up (or 1 cup frozen,tricolored)
1 clove garlic, diced small
---NOTE: THE SIZE YOU CUT YOUR VEGGIES TO WILL DECIDE HOW SMOOTH OR CHUNKY YOUR SAUCE IS.

2 tablespoons generous sprinkle of Italian seasoning
1/2 Teaspoon anise seed*
1 Teaspoon salt/pepper to taste
1 can tomato paste
1 can tomato juice
---*expensive in glass jars, inexpensive if bought in cello spice packages and poured into spice jar.
 

Preparation:

Melt oleo in large pan, add veggies and spices, place M.S. patties over veggies, cover, heat over medium heat, turn patties once, until you can easily break the patties up into "hamburger" consistency. Stir in tomato paste, then tomato juice, stir well, bring to good simmer and turn heat down to low simmer. Cook 3 hours. Serve over any kind of pasta, sprinkle with grated Romano or Parmesan cheese.
